Sat July 12th - Mon July 21st or thereabouts (Lmm has to be in Kaş for the 21st or just after.

Concept: following the route of the orient express, as seen in The Last Express. (Note that this is a different route from that seen in e.g. Agatha Christie).

Plan:

• Saturday: morning Eurostar to Paris, day in Paris, overnight train onwards to Munich (or stop in Strasbourg?)
• Sunday: day in Munich, overnight train onwards to Budapest (or stop at Vienna?)
• Monday: day in Budapest, overnight train to Belgrade
• Tuesday: day in Belgrade, overnight train to Sofia
• Wednesday: day in Sofia, overnight train/bus to Istanbul
• Thur/Fri/Sat: Istanbul! Perhaps staying at the Pera Palas Hotel
• Sun: Lmm needs to leave Eskisehir at 16:00 to get to Konya at 18:00 and then hopefully find a bus to Antalya
  • therefore needs to take the 13:35 bus from Bursa, unless alleged through running to an Istanbul suburb actually starts.
  • Alternately, Mavi overnight train.
