This page exists to provide a place to prune proposals from the Animu page, without deleting them entirely and making their history hard to find.

The advantage in doing so should be that the listed proposals on the main page are the ones under active discussion and would most benefit from further opinions.

The criteria for pruning a proposal are that it has sat around on Animu with no change for quite some time (say, 6 months plus?), and conversation about it has died out, to the point that it is unlikely that it will ever be scheduled.

This is of course very subjective, and it is always valid and actively encouraged to un-prune something that you think has been erroneously pruned!

Proposals which have not been fully evaluated

  • Non Non Biyori
    • Chronology note: the second season actually occurs, in-universe, simultaneously/interleaved with the first season.
    • lmm: I enjoyed the first episode up to a point, but don't really feel the need to see more - it was somewhat amusing but ideally we'd find better things for the schedule
    • lmm: I suggested when we were brainstorming at dinner, on the grounds that CUAMS had watched it.
    • YYY: Very much iyashikei but has some comedic moments. I loved it but I don't think it's everyone's cuppa.
    • maxb: I have now finished both seasons. I can see why this could in some ways be considered the archetypal slice of life. Much verdant green landscapes and childhood antics. Very satisfying, in the sense of being the anime equivalent of a lazy weekend afternoon lying in the sun
    • YYY, 3 months later: I don't think Non Non Biyori should go in the comedy slot because half of the audience will be bored to tears.
    • maxb, responding: I feel that after two seasons of Rabbit, we're due a change of pace from "girls do everyday stuff in their picturesque town", but that Non Non Biyori could still be a good slot 5 in the future.
  • New Game! (ニューゲーム Nyū Gēmu)
    • YYY: Cute girls designing cute vidya characters.
    • maxb: Seen, liked, would watch again.
    • maria: Watched one episode - seems fun, would watch more.
    • AIM: Watched at least one episode - willing to watch more
    • YYY, a lear later: I have no desire to watch this at this point in time.
    • maxb: There are now two seasons, but season 1 comfortably stands alone. Season 2 was a fun chance to revisit the characters, but would probably seem a bit same-y if watched consecutively with season 1.
  • Kobayashi-san's Dragon Maid 小林さんちのマイドラゴン
    • A light-hearted series with an underlying theme of interpersonal relationships improving people's (and dragons') lives. Best last episode that I've seen for a long time. --maxb
    • This show was on and off the proposals list a couple of times over the years. Interest from Dexter too, but never quite managed to catch the interest of enough of the group to make it to the schedule.
  • Ninja Girl and Samurai Master https://anilist.co/anime/21666/NobunaganoShinobi
    • A comedy about a ninja girl serving Nobunaga - keeps the jokes flowing at a consistent pace, but not a serious historical show -- AIM
    • Short episodes (50s opening, 2m40s content), but we can double up for each meeting
    • These are *really* short episodes. We could fit 6 of them in a regular slot. But then we'd see the opening repeated 6 times within 24 minutes, which might drive us mad. I have my doubts that this can reasonably fit into our format in any way. --maxb
    • That said, I do recommend it as a fun anime to buffer on your phone and watch whilst waiting for public transport! --maxb
  • Planet With (action)
    • AIM: Nominated
    • maxb: The giant cat doll creature overshadows everything else in the show with a sense of "what is this and why am I still bothering to watch it?" for me
  • Sirius the Jaeger (action/fantasy)
    • AIM: Nominated
  • Fate/cooking (Emiya-san chi kyou no gohan)
    • Semi-short, episodes are ~13 minutes each.
    • maxb: Very little happens in this show, but it does so in a soothingly fun way, apt to leave a smile on your face.
  • Cells at Work (Hataraku Saibou)
    • AIM: Nominated
    • maxb: Watched episode 1, felt it dragged a bit. Though the cuteness of the Platelets was undeniable :-)
